Abstract

The present investigation was carried out to characterize the bioactive compounds present in extract of Thelenota ananas using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrum (GC-MS). The results of the GC-MS analysis provide different peaks determining the presence of 10 phytochemical compounds with different therapeutic activities. The major hexadecanoic acid, ethyl ester (55.47), [1,1'-bibicyclo[2.2.2]octane]-4-carboxylic acid (21.07), and eicosane 4.72) and minor compounds were also present. From the results, it could be concluded that Thelenota ananas contains various bioactive compounds have various biological activities. Therefore, it is recommended as a sea cucumber of phytopharmaceutical importance.
