THE EFFECTIVENESS OF CYCLE LEARNING MODEL (5E & 7E) IN STUDYING THE PLANE VIEWED FROM SELF-EFFICACY OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of this research is to verified the effectiveness of teaching mathematics by applying learning cycle 5E and 7E model; and to find out whether those models to be more effective in terms of self-efficacy of 8th grade junior high school students in studying the plane.
The research population is 8th grade students of junior high school in Yogyakarta which is derived from a high and medium-level school. The test statistic used is a two-way anova, independent sample t test, and the N-gain formula at the significance level of 5%.
It shows that: 1) there is no distinction of self-efficacy between students applied LC 5E and LC 7E models; 2) self-efficacy of students whom applied LC 5E is not higher than LC 7E models in high or medium-level school; and 3) there is no interaction between learning cycle models with school level in learning the plane.
